The Aussie Accounts Story
The original idea to start a bookkeeping practice was conceived by
Jen
Robinson and Paul Church in late 2005. Paul and Jen saw an opportunity in the market to produce superior quality bookwork. The name ‘JPJ Accounts’ was registered and they
began trading with Jen’s existing clients. As the business increased it became apparent poor bookkeeping processes were followed by individuals and small
businesses this was the sub-standard quality and service that the industry was accustomed too. The opportunity to lift the standard of quality and service provided by the
bookkeeping industry and build a business that supported small enterprises and individuals - A business that has bookkeeping and quality as its core product!
Starting out...
Realising the importance of
building a diverse and competent team Jen and Paul invited Adam Gallagher to make up the trio. Adam’s corporate finance background, working with a large number of businesses, diverse
in industry and scale combined with business development and portfolio management, was a skill-set that Paul and Jen foresaw would be increasingly valuable as the business increased in scale.
The name change to ‘Aussie
Accounts’ was made to provide a brand that the company could build and protect - A national sounding name for a business with national aspirations.
Paul continued to work in his role as Chief Financial Controller for an international beach and snow-wear company until the growth of Aussie Accounts required Paul’s full-time focus to expand the business.
Expansion...
The business moved the business from a small office at Parkwood to larger offices in Nerang due to expectation of growing the business rapidly and in three short months the business had grown 3-fold, employing 7 people and leasing a further office to house the increasing staff numbers.
In accordance with the original charter to raise the industry standard, Aussie Accounts has developed a training course – Financial Services (Bookkeeping)
which, subject to Government approval, will be offered from April 2008.
This will create and maintain a minimum standard and assist Aussie Accounts in recruiting qualified Bookkeepers.
As the client base and the team continues to grow the Directors are looking to expand further which will be made possible with the continued support of the team and clients, enabling Aussie Accounts to set a new benchmark for bookkeeping in Australia.
